Apples are the perfect take-along food for todays overstressed person. Children, teens and adults can all benefit from an Apple-A-Day! Not just a healthy snack, apples are full of complex carbohydrates, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, iron and carotenoids such as Vitamin A, phosphorus, thiamin and magnesium. Apples do not contain fat, sodium or cholesterol and with only 80 calories per apple, they make a wise choice. Therefore, with more than one-third of the young people overweight and many more concerned about their body image Apples are the perfect choice for a weight loss program.
Alternatives for enjoying nutritional apple snacks:

Include apple juice and snack-size applesauce in your childrens lunches. Juice boxes can be frozen and they will keep the rest of the food products safe. The frozen juice should be thawed out by lunch time.

For a great after school snack, slice an apple into quarters and spread a teaspoon of peanut butter on to each slice.

Core and quarter an apple and have with a few slices of sharp cheese. A great nutritional snack.
